Longevity!
Discover here the fifth hidden sanctuary of the 7 GODS OF FORTUNE.
Sakurada is a Shinto shrine dedicated to JUROJIN,
patron of longevity.
It is in a quiet location, somewhat secluded from Roppongi Hills.
Originally built in 1180 in the Kasumigaseki (Fog Gate) district by Minamoto no Yoritomo, a famous shogun of the Kamakura period,
was then restored and moved to its current location during the Edo reform, in 1624 (1st year of Kanei – a new cycle of the Chinese zodiac) by the Samurai Ota Dokan, warrior-poet, military tactician and Buddhist monk, better known as the architect and builder of the Edo Castle (now the Imperial Palace).
